【Biography】

Professor Perry Ping Shum currently serves as the President of the IEEE Photonics Society. Simultaneously, he holds pivotal positions as the chief scientist and academic committee member within the State Key Laboratory of Optical Fiber and Cable Manufacture Technology, and also as the Director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics Intellisense.

Professor Shum was selected for China's national high-level talent program and elected as fellows of five major professional societies. His research spans diverse and cutting-edge fields such as fiber optics, silicon photonics, biomedical photonics, and AI photonics. In these areas, he has published over 400 academic papers, with the total citation number exceeding 20,000 and the h-index exceeding 70. His remarkable contributions have earned him a place on the "Top 2% Scientists List 2024" and the "Career-Long Impact List" released by Stanford University and Elsevier.

He has initiated and chaired several international conference series, promoting global knowledge exchange and collaboration. Additionally, he has established strong partnerships with universities and high-tech companies both in China and abroad, driving the practical application and commercialization of research findings.
