Beihang International Summer School 2025

International Cooperative CubeSat

CubeSats are pico-satellites widely utilized for various space experiments and Earth observation missions. This sub-project is built upon the champion project of the 2nd Space Universities CubeSat Challenge(SUCC 2.0), Space Ranger, which is scheduled for launch in August 2025. Over the course of two weeks, the program offers a combination of CubeSat-related coursework and hands-on engineering practice, focusing on micro-nano satellite technology while providing participants with an immersive experience of Chinese culture. Students will visit renowned commercial satellite companies to gain insights into the complete process of satellite production, manufacturing, and launch. They will acquire knowledge of CubeSat payload design, interact with the ground prototype of the Space Ranger CubeSat, assemble and adjust its key payloads, and conduct ground testing experiments. Additionally, participants will explore the structural heat transfer and dissipation mechanisms of CubeSats through vacuum testing. The program also offers open-ended project options, allowing students to design their own unique CubeSat payloads, with outstanding designs potentially being fabricated into physical prototypes. Exceptional students may even have the opportunity to witness the launch of the Space Ranger satellite in person at the launch site. This sub-project not only fosters technical expertise but also encourages creativity and cross-cultural exchange in the field of aerospace innovation.
