Beihang International Summer School 2025
AI Photonics
This comprehensive course examines the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and photonics, providing an in-depth exploration of AI-driven technologies and their applications within light-based systems. The curriculum begins with foundational concepts, including AI-based chips, neural networks, and large language models, and advances to more sophisticated topics such as explainable AI, photonic simulations, and AI-enhanced color filtering technologies.
Specialized areas, including optical fibers, light sources, detectors, and sensing systems, will also be addressed, supplemented by practical case studies and laboratory tours. Students will have the opportunity to engage with invited experts, participate in discussions, and deliver group presentations, thereby gaining insights into cutting-edge research and real-world applications in sectors such as telecommunications, imaging, and sensing.
The course aims to cultivate critical thinking, integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and develop innovative talent poised to contribute to the future of AI-driven photonics and information technologies. There are no prerequisites for enrollment, and the course comprises a total of 36 hours of instruction.
