OnMay 29, 2023, the Hangzhou International Campus of Beihang University officially commenced operations jointly by Beihang University and the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government. Following the educational positioning of “high level, new mechanism, and internationalization”, it strives to create an international education demonstration area, a reservoir for top-tier talent, a growth pole for interdisciplinary studies, a source of significant achievements, and an international frontier intersection platform.

Hangzhou International Campus adopts the “1+N” model for international collaborative education, utilizing a partnership with France as a driving force to foster global cooperation. It continuously introduces top French and global universities and research institutions, establishing a multifaceted cooperative network and an international innovation platform for science and education, focusing on delivering outstanding undergraduate and graduate education. According to the long-term plans, student enrollment is expected to reach 10,000, with graduate students constituting over 60%.

The Hangzhou International Campus is strategically situated in the core area of the Hangzhou Chengxi Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor. It benefits from the rich heritage of China’s 5,000-year-old civilization, exemplified by the Liangzhu Ancient City Ruins, and is in proximity to Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City and Hangzhou West Railway Station Hub. The campus boasts top-tier facilities, comprehensive living amenities, and a pleasant environment, providing faculty and students with a conducive atmosphere for work, study, and research innovation. Campus Phase I covers an area of 666,666 m², with a total construction area of 770,000 m². It seeks to explore efficient and dynamic models of digitabl intelligence education, guided by the construction philosophy of “connectivity, openness and unity, security and convenience, and empowerment in science and education” to establish a first-class digital intelligence campus.

The Hangzhou International Campus serves as the window and platform for international education and cooperation, which will further develop a high-caliber teaching team, create a high-level science education platform, and enhance talent cultivation quality. It aims to accelerate the establishment of an international talent center, an innovation hub, and a demonstrative cluster for Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, striving for high-quality and leapfrog development. This effort aims to provide new momentum for Beihang to build a world-class university.
